Helix provides four (4) areas of service across the state of Minnesota: Community-Based Mental Health Services, Targeted Case Management, Community Health Worker Services, and Housing. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Treatment Director will be responsible for leading and overseeing the strategic, operational, and
clinical aspects of our substance use disorder treatment services. The Director will ensure that the program operates efficiently, meets regulatory standards, and provides exceptional client care. This
role involves high-level decision-making, staff management, and strategic planning to drive program
growth and effectiveness. They will provide supervision, coaching, and support to the multidisciplinary team that consists of Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselors (LADC), Mental Health Professionals (MHP), and Community Health Workers (CHW). The Director will ensure staff are receiving effective training and onboarding, manage monthly and yearly financials and lead the development and implementation of the program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee the clinical delivery of services, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices.
Maintain compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards according to 245G and HIPAA
Provide supervision, coaching, disciplinary action, and conducting performance reviews.
Participate in ensuring all staff receive appropriate training and onboarding.
Manage monthly and yearly budget to ensure Helix is meeting projected financials.
Assist with obtaining financial and community resources including grant writing, in-kind donations, exploring additional funding streams and developing community partnerships.
Assist with the development and implementation of program policies and procedures.
Develop and implement program evaluations to evaluate program effectiveness and ensure the program is reflective of the needs of the community.
Attend all agency, program, and collaborative meetings timely and be an active participant.
Actively work to create and maintain an employee-based culture.
Maintain professionalism when in the community and when working with Helix partnerships.
Promote harm reduction interventions related to substance use, mental health, and infectious disease.
Provide support to the multidisciplinary team as needed by conducting comprehensive assessments, diagnostic assessments, and coverage for programming.
Develop and maintain professional and technical skills by attending relevant workshops, reviewing professional publications, and training opportunities.
Must have a valid driver’s license and insurance for travel between sites and other business-related destinations.
Coordinating participants assessments (to include ensuring participants are receiving the required assessments per SUD compliance. In addition, working with the mental health team to ensure the completion of DA and treatment plans)
Assist in all communication access amongst all staff members participants, internal and external sources. (This includes facilitation of daily huddle and weekly SUD meetings.
Assist in the oversight of program compliance (this includes ensuring all program requirements per DHS, Tribal, and State statue are being met, include the developing, updating, and monitoring of policies and procedures
Hiring, and ongoing monitoring of treatment staff and performance. (this also include onboarding of new staff, supervision of staff, and providing licensure supervision if applicable)
Provide coverage as needed within the program

KNOWLEDGE:
Leadership - Must have strong leadership skills to develop and implement strategic program vision, ensure the program aligns with organizational goals, best practices, and values.
Communication - Excellent communication skills and eager to work on a multidisciplinary team
Team Management and Development - Hire, train, and supervise clinical and administrative staff. Promoting professional development and continuing education opportunities.
Performance Monitoring and Quality Improvement - Conduct regular evaluations of program effectiveness and implement improvement initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Master’s degree in social work, Psychology, Public Health, or a related field is required.
Licensed as a Mental Health Professional and Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor (LADC) as per Minnesota State Statute.
3+ years of supervisory experience.
2-3 years of relevant experience in substance use disorder and behavioral health services programs.
Required:
Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Must successfully complete a DHS background study and maintain eligibility for employment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The position requires the ability to perform various physical tasks essential to job duties. These include, but are not limited to:
Lifting: Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25-50 pounds on a regular basis.
Bending & Stooping: Frequent bending, kneeling, and stooping may be required to access materials, equipment, or perform job-related tasks.
Sitting: Prolonged periods of sitting may be necessary, depending on the nature of work.
Walking & Standing: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including navigating various work environments.
Reaching & Stretching: Occasional reaching overhead or in awkward positions to retrieve or handle materials.
General Mobility: Adequate physical ability to move freely within the workspace and perform assigned duties safely and efficiently.
